The yucca doesn't ask permission to be dramatic. Standing tall in the high desert flatlands — all spike and swagger and upward reach — these two yucca plants own every inch of the frame. Shot in bold black and white against a brooding sky full of rolling clouds, their spiny silhouettes are both alien and ancient, as though they've been standing here since before the mountains decided which way to lean.
